2wd to 4wd rear spring hangers.

I've been reading most 2wd to 4wd post on this forum. My question is the rear hangers, are you swapping hangers if so from what? Or do you have to fabricate your own. I know using a 4x4 frame is best, but i'm having trouble locating one. So for now i'm researching my options. Any pics or info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I left the swingarms on mine. I have hangers from a 85 blazer that look like they will bolt on. I am keeping them in case I decide to do something crazy, like Dana 60's.

Re: 2wd to 4wd rear spring hangers.

Depends what axle you want to run. 1/2 and 3/4 ton hangers are the same, while 1 tons are different. 4wd and different from 2wd, 4wd are taller, where some of the height difference comes in.

I used 1/2 hangers on my crew cab. I had them already, and there aren't many 1 ton 4wds around here anymore. (I think I parted too many) I used 4wd hangers for the front of the springs, and 2wd for the rear for a poor man's shackle flip.

Re: 2wd to 4wd rear spring hangers.

Should have said it's a 1972 GMC, Yeah i have a ton axle witch is perfect for the 67-72 4x4 at 40" on the spring pads. The rear shackle is not that hard i can probably use 73-87 to get the 42.5" spring centers like my 3/4 ton 2wd 72 is. Its the forward hangers i'm confused about because the frame is 2" wider at that point and runs 2 1/4 springs. Most 4x4 have straight frame rails.
