Another question on window regulators
Ok, I'll start by saying that I went into this knowing it was going to be a PITA...but man was I ever underestimating that one.
72', I got a brand new regulator from Kenny's along with all new door seals, division felt, etc. Started back together in the correct order...rear lower channel losened, cleaned and greased all the roller channels, installed the new regulator, then the glass...tested it up and down once...rolled up and down good. I then installed the new rubber channel along the rear and up around top of the door....window still rolled up and down good. Then I moved on to the wing window assy....got it installed fairly painlessly. Once it was in I test the window up and down again....first time up was perfect...down was perfect....however, tried going up a second time and it ain't happening. It feels like the regulator is in a bind....I tried loosening the rear lower channel and the wing assy...still feels the same. I am certain that I am not binding in any of the channels. I finally got a little impatient and forced it with one hand while pulling up on the windcow with the other....got it to go up but it takes ALOT of effort and many times like this will for sure strip it or break the gear in it. Once up it still goes down really easy...actually, I noticed that I don't even have to roll it...if I just push down on the window the crank will spin and the window goes right down....which does not seem correct at all. Does this sound like a screwed regulator? Is there any additional adjustments in this thing that I am missing?...beyond the rear track and movement of the wing assy? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Another question on window regulators
Nevermind on this....I got my answer. Pulled it all back out and it is apparently this garbage china-made regulator. It does the exact some thing on the work bench...so I'll just give Kenny a ring tomorrow and see what he is willing to do for me.
It's getting really old having to tape plastic bags over my door just b/c I can't seem to find a good regulator. Bummer is that my old one still works good it's just that the bone headed PO striipped the teeth off of the handle shaft. I'm tempted to cut the ends off of both and weld the end off of the china junk to the OEM regulator.

Re: Another question on window regulators
There's also a fellow in Rowlett that has a pair of doors that aren't in the best shape, but they are complete. I think he only wants like $20 ea for them.

Re: Another question on window regulators
Has anyone ever used one of these? Are they even worth messing with? My new driver's side in the Blazer made it all of about 2 cycles up and down and crapped out. Cheap China crap!

Re: Another question on window regulators
I did buy the regulator repair kit above to save money on mine since the arms and rollers were good. Bad idea, the repair kit gears did not mesh properly at all with the regulator, and it was useless. Then I bought the entire regulator assembly from Classic parts, and it works great. Should have done that to start with, saved 14.95. But I thought it was worth a shot.

Re: Another question on window regulators
The repair kit I bought had the same rivets, I used regular pop rivets, which worked fine, but the roller didn't.

Re: Another question on window regulators
I bought a whole window regulator and it all worked well for me. Also if you're in the military they give you a discount.
