Previous owner beleived in "clearancing" parts to make them work with what he had. Cobbled up and just not structuraly sound. looking for a good set that haven't been customized. What do you have?? Will try to post a pic of what we are working with when we get home from work. Thanks

Pics of our cobbled mount. Truck has a 454 in it but we think they are the small block stands.

Wish I would have known. I had a pair off of a 68 there at the swap meet last Sunday. Glad to see you got some. Have a good weekend. Todd

Re: Wtb.. 68 small block engine stands

You may be right but with the level of professional assembly by the last few owners, we think they are small block stands. Any easy way to tell the difference?? They were bolted up, just "notched" for header clearance. Thanks for any info and ideas. Fred

Just an FYI. The butchered mount in your pictures are small block mounts, If you are keeping the big block you will have to change to big block ones,
Or do the same butchering to get either manifolds or headers to fit..

Re: Wtb.. 68 small block engine stands

I am not 100% sure but I do know people use them for big blocks in our trucks. Hopefully someone else can chime in. One hole mounts in the existing frame holes and one in the crossmember hole and you drill out the two other holes.

You will need to drill some holes in the frame and crossmember for the newer ones to work with your setup. In all honesty I would use the newer mounts. Thats what I have for my stroked small block, ive broken a few of the older type motor mounts, had to use a chain to hold the motor down.

Aren't those the shells that bolt to the engine and then the rubber encased mount that bolts to the frame???

Re: Wtb.. 68 small block engine stands

Here is some information here:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=437680
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=189487

I remember reading somewhere that the 73 and up engine stands are 1" taller than the 72's. I tried to find the thread where I read that, but couldn't. Does anyone else know if that is correct? Greg

There are several different 73 up stands, one will make the engine sit higher
These are the "incorrect" version (engine sits too high)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/73-85...Q5fAccessories

The 73 up ones in "Too much stuffs" post are the correct ones. (engine sits at factory height)
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=437680

The differences are at the top of the stand where it drops down over the top of the frame. you need to make sure the ones you get have Two angles.

Here are a couple of crude drawings of a "side view" of a tower to hopefully show what I am trying to explain

Re: Wtb.. 68 small block engine stands

OK.... Got my 71 big block engine stands on the way, thanks for all the help from everyone. Now, what block mounts do I need to run. Mild big block, not a racer. Looks like the small block ones will work. Ideas????
