Cluster repair services?

I picked up a '91 instrument cluster with tach for my '88 last year but I'd like to have it tested and repaired before I install it and have the speedo recalibrated for my combination. Does anyone know of any good shops that do this on the older clusters? TIA.

Re: Cluster repair services?

There was a time, before digital stuff, when we could take a speedometer or a clock to a shop that could fix 'em.

Calibration may mean you need a different gear that drives the sender, or it could be a program issue, or a VSS. I have no clue. I buy stuff and think it's ready to go and install it blindly, and then find out it doesn't work.....

Doing your homework beforehand is good...

There is a module behind the glove box (slips my mind what it is called at the moment) that you can change to get the calibration closer. I had to change mine in my '92 when i changed gear sets and its closer but not exact.

I could do the re-cal if I have to but I want the whole cluster tested, cleaned, repaired if needed and re-calibrated before I put it in. I found a place on eBay that will test, clean and calibrate it for $120, any repairs would be more. I'm going to give them a try.
