Does grease freeze?
does it? what temp? i can't find any grease container around my casa so......any help would be great.

yeah me either but the lower ball joint aren't really on my side at the moment, they have some grease in them and i was thinking maybe i should drop them in the freezer for a few hours while i do something else....

I don't think a domestic freezer will get anywhere near cold enough to freeze grease solid, it'll thicken up, but to get it really hard you'd probably need something like liquid nitrogen, probably wouldn't do your ball joints too much good,(are you sure you've not been drinking, thinking about greasing Britneys front suspension?!)

Grease is made of oil and soap, neither of which to my knowlege will freeze anywhere in north america.

well i foudn out the hard way my lower ball joint where fubar.......the thread was mess up really bad. i tryed to rethread it but failed. I ordered a new set of lower ball joints......

You can feeze most stuff if you get it cold enough. I don't know how cold you have to get grease to before it bacomes solid but around here where it get's 40 below in the winter gear lube gets so thick that it will stall an idling engine in neautral if you let the clutch out. We have special low temp greases for snowmobiles because regular grease gets so thick nothing on the machine will work. So to speak YUP grease freezes.

yeah it freezes. I have used to it on my tranny linkages on my 3 speed to try and keep it from jamming, and it does freeze on those -50 mornings. That linkage will damn near freeze shut at those temps. So I second Ray's YUP!!! It freezes

freeze
Everything has a freeze point. Steel freezes at 1600 degrees F. Like Dubie says, grease is real hard at -50 F. Probably hard as ice at -60 or so. About the post about not drinking b4 noon. At 8 in the morning it's noon somewhere, so have a beer.....Zoomy

I had the grease in our grease gun freeze this winter at the snow polwing yard. Kinda looked like gum.
So yep I would say it freezes
