Ordering My Be Cool Radiator... Can you guys look it over before I order it?
OK guys I finally decided on a radiator. I'm going with the Be Cool Aluminum radiater with dual 13" fans. It does not have an oil cooler or a transmission cooler. I am using external coolers for my trani and maybe one for my oil. (Eventually I will also be running Air Conditioning too.)
Well here it is: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BCI-80313/ ![]() Brand Be Cool Manufacturer's Part Number 80313 Part Type Radiators Product Line Be Cool Aluminum Power Cooling Modules Summit Racing Part Number BCI-80313 Radiator Style Crossflow Overall Width (in) 35.000 in. Fan Included Yes Fan Diameter (in) 13.000 in. Fan Quantity Dual Maximum Fan CFM 3,420 cfm Blade Color Black Blade Material Plastic Shroud Color Black Shroud Material Plastic Quantity Sold as a kit. Be Cool aluminum radiator power cooling modules are designed to properly cool your vehicle. Kits include: * Aluminum dual 1 in. core performance radiator with oval fluted tubes * Aluminum fan mounting brackets or straps with hardware (where applicable) * Diamond-cut, vented coolant recovery tank * Fan wiring harness(es) with 40 amp relay(s) * Be Cool billet radiator cap * One 16 in., dual 11 in., or two 13 in. high-torque Euro black electric puller fan(s) (in selected kits) * Natural or polished aluminum finish * Bolt-in installation * Fan upgrades sold separately _______________________________________________________________ Here is my External Trani Cooler (may use this same cooler for my oil) http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BMM-70265/ ![]() Brand B&M Manufacturer's Part Number 70265 Part Type Fluid Coolers Product Line B&M SuperCooler Oil Coolers Summit Racing Part Number BMM-70265 UPC 019695702656 Overall Height (in) 4.500 in. Overall Width (in) 11.250 in. Overall Thickness (in) 1.500 in. Cooler Construction Plate Cooler Material Aluminum Inlet Size 1/2 in. NPT Inlet Attachment Female threads Outlet Size 1/2 in. NPT Outlet Attachment Female threads Number of Cooling Rows 12 Core Height (in) 3.000 in. Core Width (in) 11.250 in. Core Thickness (in) 1.500 in. Cooler Finish Polished Quantity Sold individually. Notes Does not include installation kit. The last thing you need in the middle of a race or a road trip is to have a transmission or engine go south because your oil cooler can't keep up. B&M's SuperCooler oil coolers will keep your transmission or engine cool and running in your time of need. They're made of lightweight aluminum, with an efficient "stacked plate" design. Multiple cooling paths give them the cooling capacity of larger fan-and-tube coolers. And, because they have a low pressure-drop design, there is less oiling-system restriction. |

I have to agree on the overpricing . I think you could get something similiar with a shroud included for that amount of money . Something along this line

I agree the price is high. However, from what I researched, they Be Cool Radiators are excellent quality that wont let you down. I would hate to buy an off brand aluminum radiator only to have it leak on me in a few years...
I'm a 'Spend the money once' type of guy. I want something that will last. Is anyone here actually running an aluminum radiator? If so what brand? |

Re: Ordering My Be Cool Radiator... Can you guys look it over before I order it?
So is anyone running an aluminum radiator???
I have at least $6,000 invested in my engine that I'm trying to keep cool here. I'll shell out the extra bones for a quality radiator. I dont want to go with a company no one has ever used or who isn't credible. If anyone has any suggestions on a credible radiator that they have had experience with I'd be willing to take some advice. Otherwise the post is going to be based off opinion instead of facts... Any pros out there? Quote:

BeCool or Griffin.....it is a lot of money, but you get everything in the kit! .....an aluminum rad is def the way to go, especially if your having trouble keeping things cool...way more efficient!

Agree with the above comments - Be Cool makes a fine product no doubt, but they are WAY over priced for what it is.... Contact Ron Davis & see what he'll quote you to make one - his stuff is great too (pics of mine attached) & made specific for your application!!!

You probably won't need a shroud for cooling but I think it gives it a more professional look then just fans stuck on the rad

Re: Ordering My Be Cool Radiator... Can you guys look it over before I order it?
My $140 Stock replacement radiator hasn't let me down in 16 years.... And I run the max possible timing and drive it like I stole it, with the AC running. Run a stock rad on every square I ever had, and on my 87 I had a hopped-up 400 in it. Ran nice and cool with the stock 2 core 305 rad.
That's an insanely high price, (like a Rolex). I wouldn't go more than $450 or so max. If it makes you sleep better, get it right now, it's way more than you'll need, and from what i hear the quality is top notch. Last edited by 78 Chevyrado; 05-07-2011 at 11:41 PM. |

I have a Jeg's radiator for my 383 in my MonteCarlo, I have'nt install'd it yet but made my choice base'd on how many other racer's were use'n em. I understand be leary, but do some more research (as your do'n here) I think you'll find both company's sell a top quality radiator's.

Re: Ordering My Be Cool Radiator... Can you guys look it over before I order it?
here is a pic of my summit rad. it cost $168 about 4 years ago. and for the daul fans i went to the local junkyard and got the fans off of a chrysler sebring. they fit perfect. welded on the mounting tabs for the fans and that was it. little bit more work than ordering all together, but it is cheeper. and as far as keeping it cool, it never gets over 180, plus you can watch the thermastat open and close. the size is 31 wide 19 hieght and two row rad.
