need help 88 chevy 1500

hey guys i was helping my friend change the tranny oil and filter on his 88 with 350/350, when we finish he took it out for a test drive and he say at about 50 he loses power it wont go anywhere. do you guys have any ideas? this started happening after we did the oil and filter change in the tranny

Sounds like not enough fluid. Did you make sure to get the O-ring gasket off the old filter before you installed the new one? I have seen the fluid push by it when you double gasket it kinda like when an oil filter install goes bad.

what type of fluid did you use in it? It has a 350 in it? My 88 had a 700r4 that I swapped out for a th350.

I was just going to say it should have a 700r4. I am wandering about there being 2 o ring gaskets on there. I would check the fluid as well first see if its low.

well i found out the whole story, my friend hit something and put a hole in the tans pan to the tranny is toast, so we are installing another one, and what Torque Converter should he get i know theres diff stalls, his motor is stock and the trans is a th400? i think
