my brother got this rearend out of a 71' one ton, with leaf springs,, and hes not sure what it is, here are pics of numbers and backing plate, it has 10 bolts for cover and 4.10 gears according to tag,, i can have him get more if needed.. thank you all ahead of time..

that is the corperate rear, with an Eaton HO72 diff.

Looks like a Dana 60 to me. Look at the picture of the housing.

Thats a Dana 60. The Eaton makes that look tiny

My guess is a Dana70. It looks bigger and more stout. Can you show a picture of the whole axle from behind?

See that "09" in the fourth picture? Flip that picture upside down and it will read "60".

Here's a picture of the Dana 60 I got from a '71 - '72 3/4 ton 2wd w/ rear leaf springs:

Yours looks exactly like mine. I'm betting it wasn't a one-ton but a 3/4 ton truck you pulled it from. Do a quick Google search and you'll see that the HO72 looks nothing like what you've got.

P.S. the numbers you really want for exact identification of a Dana are on the axle tubes. There are a few web sites out there that will help you interpret the BOM (bill of material) number.

the photos weren't there when I responded... or my computer hadn't loaded them onto my screen yet.
That isn't the original rear in a C/30, the eaton was the only one avalible.
The Danas in these rigs were pretty lame and shattered axle shafts pretty easily.

i can get a pic of the whole thing, i am not exactly sure what he pulled it from he said the vin tag said 71'.. he lives in wyoming... i live in california.. so all i can go by is pics.. he is not sure what model it is sohe can get parts to get for it.. ill have him send me more so it might help...
