How far do sport mirrors stick out?

How far do sport mirrors stick out from where they mount on the door? Currently I have factory tri-pod/towing mirrors. When I pull into my garage I only have about an inch clearance on each side. If there's a significant width difference, I could see swapping.

Thanks,
Ed

That 1" of clearance is saving the side of your truck. I'd rather bing a mirror than the side of the truck

The factory tow mirrors stick out a mile on each side, even folded in. If he switched to sport mirrors, or even '88-91 Silverado 'Burban mirrors he would have enough clearance to have a fat chick party on either side of his truck.

Re: How far do sport mirrors stick out?

I just went out and measured my tripod mirrors.

6-1/2" from the body line on the door to the outer edge of the mirror.

9-5/8" from the upper mounting bolt (same approx location as sport mirrors) to outer edge.

Could someone take the same two measurements on their sport mirrors?

Thanks,
Ed

Re: How far do sport mirrors stick out?

Wow!

Thanks for measuring that for me. It looks like they'll give me at least 4" extra clearance per side. Guess I'll be ordering a set!

Thanks,
Ed
