Well I shined it up! What do you think?

I don't think it looks too bad now. It is amazing what a little wax and elbow grease can do. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Thanks teeitup.. 70cst10_05, I think it can use a nice set of wheels also, but I am selling it and don't want to sink a bunch more money in it. I do have a nice set of 3/4 ton ralleys I could put on it. Hooter, Why would you call it a turd? It is in great shape.... WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Wes, that does look sharp. A can of fresh white paint on the grill and bumper would do quite a bit along with the rallys.
Now, y'all wanna talk about polishing a turd...

Well you are right Hooter... The wheels do suck!! LOL I think that I will mount my 3/4 ton ralleys on it.. I will have to find some GMC hub caps to go with it though. The wheels on it are the origanal old split rims. Longhornmail, I thought of you in that picture when I was pollishing it.. LOL I was interupted by rain showers 3 times befor I could finish..LOL WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

dtlilly, These were removed from a 3/4 ton Dodge truck. They are the ones that I am going to mount on the GMC. You might look around for a set of those to mount to your truck. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Thanks Wes, I didn't know that dodge and #ord rims were interchangable. I'll have to go to my friendly neighborhood all truck salvage yard and have a look- see, and trial fit.

My 3/4 ton axel and suspension set up on my 71 1/2 ton GMC is off a mid 70'S model chevy, and assumed only GM would work. Heck maybe I can find some cool 16" rims to replace the 16.5" on the truck.

Ya, All 8 lug rims are the same bolt pattern up untill the late model Fords anyway. They have their own bolt pattern now. But Dodge, GM, and earlier Fords are the same. The only oyher thing that you need to watch for is the back of the wheel. On earlier GM stock wheels they had little tabs that wouldn't fit over the calipers of the disk brake trucks. Sometimes there is something salvageable underneath the grime. When I first got my '70 I almost immediately started for the paint booth, but I got some 1500 paper & wet sanded/buffed out a modest shine. You should have no problem selling that one, Wes.
longhornmail, is that Mountain Dew holder stock?

After a $3000.00 bid on a new paint job I wish I could buff mine out that well.
