where tub/bed meets tailgate
Hello there,
I know this may be a 'body' question...but I would really likethe blazer/jimmy guys opinions on this! I have a 71 blazer, and I know i can do the body work, no big deal to patch a few straightforward spots-- I have done that before My question is, How do you repair the last 6in of 'tub/truck bed'??????????? It is rusted right at the end of the bed where it meets the tailgate-- the PO prob left a buch of leaves etc there..... Anyways-- Are there path panels for this? SOme kind of plastic alternative? This is not a show truck-- so any ideas on how to get rid of the cancer are welcome-- does not have to be a 'stock' solution. I plan to put a quality rhino line with a carpet/ rubber mat over top in the end....... I have seen threads on using a 73-87 bed floor (easy to find etc) BUT--- mine is only bad for 6 inches or so....... As always thanks to this great community-- I brag about this site all the time lol |

Nice truck! bed floor patches should be available from guys out around Arizona, haven't seen any repops that work. Should be an easy fix as long as your crossmember isn't rusted out along with your floor. I fixed mine with a new repop crossmember from a '73 up, but that was to acommadate a wood bed. It is all spot welded across the bed floor to the crossmember, I would take the gas tank out when working on it more pics of your utility seats pls

Re: where tub/bed meets tailgate
thanks---I do not think the cross member is rusted --- the only 'bad rust' is rigtht at the end of the bed wehre ther corrugated floor curls over.
Do you think I can do thwi without removing bedsides etc-- I am not doing a frrame off, just want to fix this area. PS-- here is one /two more pics.... i think these are the stock seats the PO recovered in a carbon fiber look marine vinyl-- I really like them, but have not mounted the rear seat --waiting for a set of seatbelts and ashtrays, Jon |
