My RPM's are too high!

Crusing down the highway, my rpm's are at about 3000! It's just a 350 motor and 350 trans with a shift kit! Te drop down cable doesn't work! Amd it has a lockup convertor! It ran like 2450 at 70 before my trans rebuild!!! Stock rearend!

Re: My RPM's are too high!

Is it going into high gear or staying in second? Count the shifts.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: My RPM's are too high!

The convertor locking up will get some RPM reduction, but it won't get 600rpm worth. The kickdown cable not working is where I would start. Find out why it's not working.

Re: My RPM's are too high!

thats pretty normal. th350 do NOT have a over drive. only 3 gears. the kick down cable has nothing to do with driving. it only for what the name employs. kick down. down shift.
ive got a shorter tire. 25.5 inch tall. with only 3:42 gears im doing 65 on the highway at 3k.. if you want do drop your rpm's go with a 700r4. its a over drive tranny.

It should remain what it was prior to being rebuilt....

Unless the trans was swapped from an OD unit to a 3spd.
