Re: 67-72 Vacation.....Where or when?

i plan my time off to hang out with everyone at the midwest all truck nats in kc missouri, check out the past events in the midwest section we have numerous rides show up from around the midwest the club president of the host club is a member here also, we set up several tents and hang out in one big group with our rides, we do our own drawing and bbq and normally make a big donation back to one of the charities that are benefiting from the show. we had over 20 members from the board there last year if i remember right, and year before last custom classic trucks shot pics from the show. look us up on the midwest section, yell at nate(72black beauty) for better details. oh yah it is the friday saturday and sunday after labor day!!

Re: 67-72 Vacation.....Where or when?

There's Trucks At Carlisle the first week in August. It's all kinds of truck, big to small, import to classic...mostly customs...mostly Chevy(of course)...and a good amount of 67-72s.
It sure is far, though. There has to be some good stuff in the western states. There's a show coming up in Tennessee:

Re: 67-72 Vacation.....Where or when?

There is a good showing of trucks at Goodguys in Puyallup,WA at the end of july. It's a good show and the weather is nice by then. They have Friday night drags, Sat. night cruise, and a really good beer garden. I got to meet some board members at last years show.

Re: 67-72 Vacation.....Where or when?

How about the Shades of the Past Car Show in Piegon Forge, TN. It's a great show. They line about three miles of the road with trucks and cars and people beside the road and just watch the trucks and cars go by. We three years in a row and had a blast. All kinds of stuff to see.

that is the best option right there.

there is a big show in havasu mid october called "run to the sun." 1000 plus classic rides of all kinds, and some really nice 67-72's you dont see at brothers. you can also watch girls in bathing suits and pasties...but its not the bahamas, so I dont know if Renate would go for it.

Re: 67-72 Vacation.....Where or when?

Woodward ave dream cruise in Michigan. I have gone twice in the last five years and will go again in the near future. The actual cruise is on a Saturday in August but the week leading up to it is one giant rolling car and truck show. The cruisers run from Detroit up through some suburbs all the way to pontiac michigan. We stay in Bloomfield hills which is about centered between the two. Not only will you see every kind of auto you could think of but the manufacturers set up displays with prototype and experimentals that you would never see on the road except at Woodward. We have also gone to the ford museum, the wixom engine plant to see the zr1 and z06 vette motors built, the GM tech center is also just minutes away. We even had an impromtu race with a ford GT roadster that never made it to production. We were leaving the ford museum in my camaro ss and merged onto the road with the GT as they were pulling out of the ford tech center accross the street. Awesome trip!

the fall rod run in pigeon forge tennessee sometime in september and maybe when the leaves start to change on the trees along the blue ridge parkway. Usually lots of truck and other great old cars plus plenty of shopping for the wife with all the outlet stores...my wife loves it great food, lots of old stuff everywhere like on big cruise in, and great shopping...everyone leaves happy..lol
