I confess...I have been busy and have not worked on the '68 much lately. I{shudder} even kicked around selling it, but after 9 years I dismissed the thought. Then, last week I am driving down a country road in my '72 beater daily driver and see a '67 SB for sale....I grunted and kept driving, but the image was burned on the brain...nice paint job, obvious older restoration...yadayadyada. Then the "little voice" and the nocturnal questions began....: "is it a posi, really.... no rust, the glass was intact, did it have a real oem tailgate, front brake upgrade, what engine?????? I was going insane, so I had a look today.

Yep, 11-12 year old restoration, small rear window. Not a show truck but a head turner. A few slight hints of rust breeching the paint in a few tiny spots. 350 & a 3 on the tree. Oem tailgate, bed is real solid, interior plain but good, seat does not match paint. So I drove it, and it's got a miss that went from real bad to noticable after I put some Super in it(owner has not driven it in almost a year) and it's burning a wee bit of oil. Shifter is tight, but it will not go into 1st until it is at a stop. All the glass is perfect as are the rubber/seals. It really needs a bunch of little stuff and a fresh paint job...ok ..........and some engine work.

I look on Fleabay and am shocked at the low bids and sale prices. I mean, I know how much even a half assed restoration costs and the prices are not even on the same planet. So, I will make an offer and if a deal is struck I will sell the '68 as I can buy the '67 for half of what it will cost me to finish the '68....a sad state of affairs.

Man, this "economy" needs to turn around.....how low will we go?

I am afraid that the bad economy is going to hang on longer than most people think.

I am seeing a lot of classic cars and trucks listed on Craigslist now days a lot cheaper than they were a few years ago.

Sounds like a good idea to buy the '67, if it requires less work.

and even better....finding half finished projects with lots of new parts. Those are going for pennies on the dollar right now...

...I've missed some deals recently but there are some incredible ones out there right now....

especially in California and AZ...if I was out there....I'd have a LOT of truck projects going on right now

The owner and I talked and we are not too far off on a deal. It will require some scrounging for $ so I am rattling every piggy bank I have...........

Just FYI the 67 3 OTT tranny is non-syncro low.They don't go to low without stopping or grinding.Sounds like an easy Driver.I say go for it.
