guage cluster bezel question

I was sorting through a pile of old parts and came across my old gauge bezel. My truck is a 72 super cheyenne. The bezel was on the truck when I got it and I presumed it to be factory by the fading of the woodgrain and discoloration of the bezel itself. I replaced this bezel with a repopped chrome unit with a woodgrain sticker 4-5 years ago. Now looking at this old bezel I am confused. The woodgrain on the old bezel is different (more like the factory) but the old bezel is chrome as well. Weren't all factory bezels painted silver? Any info is mucho appreciated.

Re: guage cluster bezel question

Cheyenne super and sierra grande would be woodgrain with chrome. Some of the GM ones made later had silver edges with woodgrain, but not very common. I think the silver was gone after 68.

Wow. I didn't think the chrome was available from the factory. Cool. Is there anyway to tell if the bezel is factory? Any markings on the back?

Re: guage cluster bezel question

Should be a part number on back. It sounds like yours may be original.

Re: guage cluster bezel question

cool! might see about carefully removing the woodgrain to reuse since the repops aren't the correct pattern and trying to get a local place to rechrome the bezel
