What is this solenoid on my TH350?
It's a little like solenoid looking thingy. It's on the passenger side, rear of the transmission. It faces the rear and it has a vacuum line going from it, up to the back of the intake manifold...last night when I was pulling my headers off, I noticed that the vacuum line was not connected! Maybe this is why my truck was idling so rough, and also wouldn't shift...what is that thing?

All I know about it is that it moves a valve in relation to manifold vacuum. I think it might control the throttle valve. It could cause the truck to idle rough if there is a vacuum leak. Don't know about your shifting problem though.
