Need advise about headers - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

During the course of our rebuild of a 70 1 ton GMC we are considering a step up to headers as our factory manifolds are pretty much shot. Does anyone have 1st hand knowledge of whether or not Hedman Street Hedder 69092 will fit with a small block 350 and a factory 4 speed?
If not, what does fit? I have searched high and low and can't seem to find any definitive answers regarding stick shift applications.
We're also considering these as well...Dorman Products 674-199.
Any thoughts on these?

Song of the header owner:

Starts with doing something totally unrelated to working on headers, like driving for instance...

It begins slowly, softly...

tick, tick, tick.... Tick, Tick, Tick... TICK, TICK, TICK... BLAP! BLAP! BLAP!...

silence... (as you shut off the engine and grab the header wrench which now has a permanent home in the glove box).

it continues... next is the sound of sizzling flesh as the screaming hot pipe comes in contact with the scar tissue of your right hand from last weeks episode of the header dance.
Simultaneously, gravity plays it's part as we hear the sound of the wrench hitting the frame rail on it's way down to the most inaccessable place it could possibly be under your truck.

The thud from the back of your head hitting the hood marks the crescendo...

There is the obligitory short burst of swearing at this point (the F bomb solo comes in the second verse after you fire the engine back up and... tick, tick, tick)...

In the long version there is a bridge which is nothing more than silence (except for the sighs and fingernail tapping from your wife/girlfriend) as you wait for the starter to cool down enough to actually... uh... work.

Second verse is the same as the first.

The end of the song comes much later as you finally reach your destination, fashionably late... left header still ticking.

I have hedman headers on my SBC manual 3 spd. No interference problems with the clutch linkage. I will get the part number off of them when I get home tonight.

I think I bought a set of those for my 71K5 with a 465 and they hit the drivers side corner of the tranny. I need to confirm the number. They are actually still sitting in the box in my shop since then. I think these are the ones with the ball and socket type collector flange. I was kinda interested to see how that kind worked compared to the conventional gasket type.

I will confirm the part number tonight and let you know.

I have Hedmen Elites, I have never had any leaking issues.

Just don't buy anything with 1/4" or less flanges. 3/8+ and you will have a much, much better seal.

That part # seems to be what is needed to clear the clutch linkage on the 4 speed setups but I wonder why Hedman says they are for 4x4 only?? What's different about the engine and chassis where the headers are concerned that would cause a different header to be used?
The back pipe on the driver's side seems to be the issue for most headers to fit properly. Those seem to have the correct kick forward necessary to clear.
Now I'm more confused than when I started lol

I have Hooker Competition PN# 2452 in my '70 1/2 ton with four speed. They fit perfectly and thus far I've had no issues with leaks etc.

I have the 2452 Hooker comps on my longhorn, but have also run the Hedmans. The 69092's will fit your app, but the tubes & flanges are heavier on the 2452 Hooker. If you look at the Hedman Elite series, you will get a very heavy header(14 guage tubing), but a tad pricey. Best of fun,crazyL
