ebay conversion
What do you think this thing should sell for? Started as a 4x4 jimmy and now its the elusive 68 2wd blazer!

Re: ebay conversion
Tough to say... the color might hurt the sale. ()
Will be interesting to see what a completed conversion will sell for. $20k invested according to the description and regardless of being a conversion (from the pics) it looks solid and is ready for the minor updates. $14k+... $14k is on the low end just because I saw a copper poly '71/2 sell for around this price. It was lowered w/ 20" Coys and was also a conversion.

Re: ebay conversion
It looks nice, but it is a conversion so I would be surprised if it went for more than $12000 - but what do I know. It might really pique someone's interest and go for big dollars.

Re: ebay conversion
I checked this one out in person and here's what i saw. The leaf springs are still attached, slight rust on the windshield frame, no seatbelts, tach doesn't work because this truck originally was the kind that had just the big holes on the cluster and the gas gauge doesn't work even after putting a new sending unit in. Radio doesn't work either. Other than that it looked pretty good. I offered $10.5 and they're supposed to let me know. Would that be a fair price? Too high? I want to bag, motor swap, etc but I don't want to overspend on a conversion either. Hmmm...

...that being said, Now that you've seen it and know the issues.... ...if you're happy with the color and the windshield rust is minor and an easy fix....I think 10.5 is a fair price for it. The interior looks pretty nice and would cost around 1500-2K by itself for the front and rear recovered seats/brackets/console.

Re: ebay conversion
Yeah, I called the guy back and said I wasn't interested anymore. It would be good for someone who just wants to keep it as is but to me there is too much I would change.
I also forgot to mention for anyone else who may be pursuing this Blazer that it needs a new window regulator and the foam in the seats felt a little too squishy. After seeing that color in person it really wasn't too bad. Just bad! Just kidding, your truck really does look awesome in that green! The wheels really set it off... Last edited by matthew79; 05-17-2011 at 01:49 PM. Reason: forgot the seat info |

Re: ebay conversion
wow again!!! With the seat info and regulator added in I wouldn't be surprised if there's a lot of other hidden issues with it including in the drivetrain. Seems like they threw it together to put on ebay....
...Not cool at all that none of that is disclosed in the auction....

Re: ebay conversion
I'll retract my statement above as far as the value.
With the above mentioned items, that definitely detracts from the value of the blazer. I take it from your statement that the blazer is still on the 4 wheel drive chassis w/ straight frame rails in the back right?

Re: ebay conversion
Not being able to see it in person makes it hard to put a value on it. But what I can see from the pictures makes me wonder about the information in the listing. I noticed the gage cluster had not been reconditioned. (Gas gage looks broken and needles need repainted) Both rockers panels don't look right. The bottom of the drivers door doesn't fit right. I would have to look it over in person before I would even try to put a value on it. From just the pictures a red flag goes up for me. I have purchased 3 Blazer found online. Owner sent pictures. I think I got what I paid for. I personally would not bid on a vehicle I had not looked at before bidding unless it was a parts vehicle or I had more money than I knew what to do with. The color of the Blazer makes it easy to hide body flaws.

Re: ebay conversion
and to add to all of this....only two bidders bidding it up....seems like a couple friends getting it up close to the reserve....

Re: ebay conversion
Oh yes one more thing. In the pic of the interior you can tell the dash hasn't been cut for a modern radio but on the inner portion of the right hand radio knob there is a pretty large crack and it isn't just a hairline crack either! The pic conveniently doesn't show that...
Overall there just isn't the attention to detail that was needed to justify their description of "frame off restoration". |
