ORD's shackle flip? Good/ bad
Well i noticed that alot of you guys have used Offroad Design so i checked it out. I also have looked at Yukon Jack page and really like the shackle flip they offer. i have one question. I have a 1971 half ton 4x4 and when i crawled underneath the other day i noticed that the frame is not a square tube like most other frames but instead it is half of a square. (hope you get what i mean) like a sideways u. is this normal. does anyone else have this? But i was also wondering if this would affect the installation of the shackle flip setup. any advice is great or any comments on this kit.
Thanks alot '71k-10 |

The "square tube" frames that you are talking about did not come about until 1988 (I think). For sure, none of the 67-72 trucks had this. They are all the "sideways u" that you mention. So don't worry. The shackle flip will work if that is what you want.

Before you go for the flip make sure you don't have any broken leafs. During my install I saw that I did have a broken leaf not a major problem but just something to be aware of. Also the flip appears to move the axle forward a bit - may not matter to you but it does bother some people. Easily correctable with the Zero Rate block offered by ORD as it can be used to offset the axle 1" back or forward.
