Please, help with advice
Can someone watch my video on youtube and tell me what is wrong with my truck. Still can't get it started. Hooked battery back up, tried to start it yesterday and now it just clicks. Autozone said it was a good batt. Will never deal with again.
My youtube handle is thezendriver. Thanks and I really appreciate your advice. Posted via Mobile Device Last edited by cfan10; 05-16-2011 at 05:27 PM. |

What is the truck doing when you try to start?
If it's just clicking and the battery is good, it could be the starter solenoid.

Now it just makes clicking noise, before it was sounding like it ran out of gas. def not out of gas I put a hanger in tank to measure fuel level, it has plenty of gas.

Re: Please, help with advice
1. put a battery charger on it
2. try starting if that doesnt work.... 3. check to see if carb is getting fuel 4. check to see if plugs are getting power the video is really vague and ya cant really hear whats going on. These are some basics to start with. Last edited by Brian76GMC; 05-16-2011 at 06:30 PM. |

Re: Please, help with advice
Make sure your battery cables are on tight, check your ground cable, if you have a voltmeter attach the voltmeter to the battery and check the voltage when you are trying to start the truck, if it drops below 10V's charge your battery. Sounds like you have enough voltage to engage the solenoid but not enough voltage spin the starter, or it's a bad solenoid, that is if your battery and connetions are good.

Re: Please, help with advice
Make sure your battery is charged.
Make sure you have good solid connections at the battery, starter and ground. If the above is true then if it just clicks I would change the starter. You mifght try tapping on the starter with a hammer while trying to start it and see if it will go. Have you messed with the distributor? It could be out of whack(advanced or retarded)causing hard starting. |
