issues installing FK #1012-5 Flip kit - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 1967 GMC 3/4 ton with 8 lug drum brakes, non power assisted brakes, and manual steering. I'm swapping the complete 5 lug disc/ drum suspension out a 1974 Chevy 1/2 ton truck and in the process of doing a 4/6 drop. I have the 12 bolt out of the 1974 Chevy truck and the leaf spring perches lined up but need to relocate the shock mounts . I bought DJM rear flip kit #FK1012-5 and tried installing it today. The axle locator bracket opening is larger than my rearend diameter. The axle locator brackets didnt even touch my leaf spring perch. I guess since I do have a 1974 Chevy rearend thats probably what I need to try again, although I had bought a McGaughys flip kit for a 1974 Chevy 1/2 ton a couple of weeks ago and took it back. I didnt think it would work, so I didnt try to install it. Here are some pics. I have leaf springs only ( no coils, no panhard bar ). Anyone running a silmilar set up or seen a kit that will work.

I used DJM Suspension FK-1024 on my 78 half ton. THe bracket is a simple cheap stamped hunk of steel shaped like a "u" nothing like the fancy bracket in your pic. My 78 has a 12 bolt. By the way, the shock extension brackets have three bolts, but one of them hits one of the djm spring plates, so i was only able to put in 2 bolts.

Cool, I will check that one out. Thanks for the help. How much did you drop your truck? I'm looking at getting a 6 inch drop in the back and 4 in the front.

I used a flip kit in the back, and 2 inch springs up front, and 2.5" spindles...It has a little bit of a rake to it...if i did it again, I'd only use a 1" spring. I used summit racing drop shocks up front.

Double check w/the mfr that they packaged the correct flip brackets. Those look like they're for a larger OD axle tube from the pics.

I already sent them back to autopartswarehouse.com. I wish that kit would have worked I like how it was built, wish they made that same kind for the 73-87 chevy trucks.
