255/85/16

Does anyone know if 255/85/16's will fit an 84 k20 with 0-1.5" of lift? I'm taking the lift out of my truck, well I do some body, paint and other work, and need smaller tires.

And if anyone has pics of 73-87 trucks with 255/75/16's

255/75R16 is 31" tall
255/85R16 is 33" tall

Both will fit on a stock height K10, so with your lift it should look perfect.

I'd like to see some pictures of that. I'm looking into 235/85 16 for mine with 4" of lift. I want a skinny streetish tire. I believe some of the K30 trucks were offered with that size tire from the dealer/factory.

My truck has LT265/75R16 Sport King A/T tires on it and they are a good fit IMHO. I need to get new pictures since I took the lift springs out of the rear and it's back to stock height but here's with a stock front and 4" rear lift looked like.

I'll try to get updated pictures this weekend.

Could someone list all the tires they know are available in 255/85-16? I want to put those on my '85 Jimmy.

I have 235 85 16 on my '86 K30. They fit well with no lift, with a lift they are too small IMO. My truck is a dually and plenty of space between the rears. I'd like to go with the 255 85, but it's a farm truck and I can't justify the $1200 a set would cost! I know that BFG AT's come in the 255 size.

I have and have owned lots of GM light duty trucks, 4x4's, and plenty of them were duallies.
Here's a pic of 2 of my current trucks. The 1988 2 dr regular cab V30 dually has 235/85-16 All terrains and my 1986 D30 military has 255/85-16 BFG Muds. Fit and work great with no lift and no rubbing.

That D30 looks great with those tires. Do you by chance know how wide those rims are? I was planning on going with 235/85/16 on mine, but I like the look of your tires on your truck.

Which truck? They are both K30s...Was D30 a misprint? I'm assuming you mean the CUCV. They both have what would be original. I believe that's what your truck has. 255/85s work ideally on stock wheels. Even the aluminum wheels on the dual rear truck would still be stock width.

The 1988 V30 dually has Alcoa 16x6" wheels and the truck did come with 235/85-16 tires originally. The CUCV which is designated a D30 in the serial number and on the build identification tag for military spec vehicle,(the D is where the K would be in the serial number for a civilian K model). It also came originally with 235/85-16's on 16x7" wheels. I might upgrade the dually to 255's the next time it needs tires.

Neither truck pictured is a K30. The D30 was not a misprint. People don't know or get lazy sometimes and call the CUCV M1008/variants a K30 which is incorrect. The same as calling any 1987 GM light trucks a C-K when they are either R or V models. There were no C-K models in 1987.
I think I have even referred to the CUCV as a K30 since so many get confused when you tell them the truth, especially parts guys!

Yes, I meant on the CUCV. They look killer on there. I like the dually tires, too and was thinking about going with those, but I'm still undecided. I do like the larger space between the tire and fenders like the duallys have. Would you have any close up shots of the CUCV with the 255's? The muds look great but I'm really just going to use my truck on the street.

Thanks,I learn something new all the time. I've had a few of these trucks here and never paid any attention to the VIN. My son even has an '86 Blazer. I'm not up on all the details of the newer stuff as I am on the earlier,nor am I a military vehicle buff. I always resented the designation changes and ignore them. It's so silly to me when nothing changes but the name. To me a Blazer is a K5,a 1/2t is a K10,a 3/4t is a K20,and a 1t is a K30 (when it comes to Chevys) and no one has ever had to ask me to clarify what vehicle I was referring to. It's just a peeve of mine. I ignore name changes. After all,a name is for identity and the names I use work to identify.
