Dash vent install???

I purchased a new dash vent that goes right above the radio for my 71 chevy. It appears to have 2 screw holes on the "back" side. Does this mean I have to take the radio out to find 2 screws holding it in? Is there any secrets to this. It appears pretty simple but I've thought that before.

Re: Dash vent install???

You must be talking about the center A/C vent. It so Its a tight small space to work with. I had to remove my cardboard glove-box, passenger side defroster hose and My after market radio to get enough access to the two nuts that are passing through the vent and plastic duct housing. I then removed the two studs from the old vent and installed them into the new vent and reversed the disassembled order. I'm sure others will reply with their experiences but that's what I remember doing. Good luck.

So pretty simple, just tedious it sounds like. May be a good time to look at upgrading the radio since I will have to make room to get the vent taken care of.
