Hi guys,

My truck is pulling to the right. I assume I am in need of an alignment, correct? I called a bunch of different alignment shops and none can do it as they don't have the specs. I found this thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ad.php?t=50601 which lists some specs. Can I just give those numbers to the shop? I live in zip code of 91042, anybody know a shop around here that can do an alignment?

You can check the toe in yourself, If I recall correctly....stand at the front of your truck and find the vertical center line of your tires, you then run a tape measure from that center line on one wheel to the center line of the other, (make a note of that measurement), then do the same from the center line at the back of both tires, and for your toe in to be correct you should end up with the back measuring 1/4 - 3/8 more than the front......for example if you measured 75" at the front you would hope to have 75 1/4 or 75 3/8 at the rear.
A factory service manual will give you all the correct specs.
Someone will hopefully correct me if i'm wrong.

i usually shoot for 1/16 to 1/8... 3/8 is gettin kinda up there.

I like to set them at 1 degree pos caster. 1/8-1/4 neg. camber. & 0-1/16 toe in.
My 70 drives as good as anything out there.

Nice info, but I still can't find a shop to do the alignment.

Firstone, Goodyear, Sears, Les Schwab.....they won't do it? Never heard of that. Anyway check tire pressures and bring them up to proper level.

Any good alignment shop should be able to do it. That's news to me too...

ask other local hot rodders where they had there's done.

Yup. All of the big name places won't do it if it is lowered, I had the same problem. Even if they had the specs, I wouldn't trust them to do it anyways beacuse of their initial reluctance. Any old school guy can do it by sight/test driving it. I took mine to a local shop here in Riverside called Jerl's muffler/brakes. An old dude there named Scotty aligned my 5" dropped front end perfectly for $75. It took him about an hour and a half, and he only needed to add 1 shim to each stud to correct the camber.

I finally found a shop in Van Nuys that will do it, going to take her in on Monday.

Good deal. Van Nuys is a lot closer to you than Riverside
