1960 SWB rebuild
Hey everyone, I've been a member for a relatively short time and haven't posted much, though I'd throw some pics up of me and my dad's build that's eventually gonna be my 8 months/year driver. Here's some pictures of it when we first bought it.
Quick description of truck before = stock suspension, brakes and steering, 3.73 rear end, crate small block V8 with not many miles on it, (don't know for sure). Torsion bars are cranked all the way down on the front, and he had blocks on the back to lower it some. PLANS - rear end + front end swap from an '89 suburban, putting 2" drop springs in front. - transmission from '89 suburban (700R4) - pwr brakes + steering - airbag rear suspension (no onboard compressors) - relocating fuel tank to back - replacing '60 hood with '62 hood - body work + full paint job Last edited by t.warriner; 05-30-2011 at 02:55 PM. |

Re: 1960 SWB rebuild
That looks like a decent truck as it is. What are your plans for it?

Re: 1960 SWB rebuild
Some more pics: lifting the cab! and cleaning up the frame a bit.
Cab, gutted, and almost ready, just need to take doors off and windshield out. My dad checking out the trusty setup! Our come-along, the slowest possible way to lift a cab! haha. but it works. Just barely got it high enough to move the frame out from underneath! Starting to clean the frame up a bit. |

Re: 1960 SWB rebuild
Some pics of the box and starting to get parts sandblasted and primered.
Box before anything, came with molded in roll pan. Plans to put black painted wood in, stock-style. Cutting the carriage bolts off, couldn't figure out any other way to get them out, and they were super rusted anyways. Box with first primer on it. Inner fenders and rad support with primer. Tailgate with primer. |

The cab, all sandblasted! Cab floor, we were lucky to find such a rust free, solid cab! Cab corner, will need some work. Interior. My dad, starting to do some work on the door. Got patch panels for the bottom section of each door to be put in. |

Towing cross member and new gas tank!
Decided to get a new gas tank from Brothers, to take the fuel out of the cab and get a little more traction in the back. Gonna make the filler in the bed. Our homemade tank mounts! A towing cross member we had welded up, super sturdy! |
