Putting plugs in a 5.3

This is the first time Ive ever worked on an alum head(surprising seeing how many engines Ive built)
Im a little worried about damaging the head since I have no idea if I can trust that the old owner put anti seize on the plugs or not...could it help any if I sprayed some pb blaster on the plugs and let it sit for a little bit before giving it a shot??

Or should I just make sure its cold and cross my fingers?

Sorry, I know this is a stupid question to most of you.

well i change alot of these out and never had a problem don't have to be changed till about 100k and the factory don't normally use anti seize and they come right out, be sure to use a good set of ac delco plugs like platinum or better

Re: Putting plugs in a 5.3

Changed them this morning, after some interesting pops and crackles from the NGK plugs, all is good.

Re: Putting plugs in a 5.3

After having ruined threads in small engine heads before and having to use helicoils to save them when it came time to change the plugs in my LS engine I wasn't taking any chances. I waited until overnight to change them and used antisieze going back in. Helps lube the threads and maybe prevent them from gawling next time they come out. Cheap insurance.
