74 Factory tach cluster to non-tach cluster conversion HELP!!!!

I have a 74 with a factory tach guage cluster in it and was wondering if I took it out and put a factory non-tach cluster in it if all the other guages would still work??? I'm not sure what year the non-tach cluster is but it does still have the mech. oil pressure guage like the tach dash does. I want to sell the truck but am wanting to keep the tach dash so I'm hoping this will work. My guess would be that the wiring harness was the same with or without a tach dash but you never know what they (GM) may have done???? Any and all help would be appreciated.

The replacement cluster needs to have the AMP gauge, not VOLTS, otherwise should be plug and play swap.

On that note, you can not just swap the AMP gauge out if the other cluster does not have an AMP gauge, has to be a cluster made for it.

What years had an amp guage vs a volt guage??? And what will happen if you try and put one with a volt guage in???

Ok. Thanks for the link. Seems like more work than it's worth and I don't have the right stuff to swap it over.

If you have a cluster out of a 73-75, it will plug right in place. Just out of curiosity, why the swap?

Re: 74 Factory tach cluster to non-tach cluster conversion HELP!!!!

You can probably find a cluster for fairly cheap, might cruise the Parts For Sale area here on the forums and find someone parting out a 73-75 truck. I know I have two clusters here that'd pop right in if you were closer.

Jon, he said he is wanting to sell the truck and retain the factory tach cluster, I'd do the same thing.
