Non-OE dash clock retrofit.

So I am knee deep in dash clock options and I was wondering what (or if) anyone else has done for a gauge cluster clock in a 64-66 dash.

Some obvious choices:
Square body dash clock retrofit
Any classic car/truck clock
New aftermarket (autometer or other)
Or something totally random?

My gauges are now white, so whatever I do will be done with a white face. So the color doesn't matter so much.

Looking at totally random, the Chrysler 300M clock looks very nice (early models don't have the logo)

The Escalade clock is sweet, too and would go:

Of course there are a million analog clocks, but what has anyone used outside of stock ones?

Re: Non-OE dash clock retrofit.

I bought this clock off ebay over 3 years ago from a vendor named The Clock Doc. It was made specific for 60-66 clusters to look OEM. Had to modify the face plate very little to install.

I have a '69 Camaro SS. It's a numbers matching car, which I respect, but I am not a "numbers matching" guy.... the purests go nutso for the factory stuff like tick-tock-tachs.

I get a kick out of watching the insane prices these purests will pay for the stuff that alot of us back in the day thought was soooo hokey.

I had a 1967 RS Camaro Convertible (275HP 327) with every option except the SS. It had the Deluxe Interior with Tach and Console Gauges. It was hard to find parts to restore that one almost 20 years ago. The first gen Camaro stuff goes for top dollar!

Re: Non-OE dash clock retrofit.

I think I'm sold on the BVLGARI, I might try and pick one up this weekend. I don't want to cut the hole out if I can avoid it.

Here is my hokey mock up

Re: Non-OE dash clock retrofit.

Did you just use a hole saw to cut out the hole for the clock? My concern is getting the hole to look right, thats one reason I was looking to squeeze the clock into the small location.

I think I might just spend a few hours in the bone yard and see what I can find.

I cut the bottom half of the circle with a plasma cutter and then used a die grinder with a fine burr and a sanding flap wheel to clean it up.

I found this on ebay 3 years ago. I am not sure if the Clock Doc is still around on ebay. If I remember correct they only made a small number of these clocks. I would type in dash clocks in the seach.

Re: Non-OE dash clock retrofit.

U-Pull-It is having a half off weekend and clocks are only $2.50, so I might come home with a hand full and see what I can make work. So far the 300M clock is the nicest, but I have a list of ones to look out for. Pics to follow.

Try a mid-80's GM- Monte or possible Camaro.

The Ford 500 clock might work, but it's more silver than white.

Re: Non-OE dash clock retrofit.

I was able to find an OEM set up on both the Tach and the Clock. I don't know which would the "correct" side to mount the clock/tack on, I don't suppose therer really is one?

Re: Non-OE dash clock retrofit.

DONE!

2001 Chrysler 300M, $2.88 and it took almost noting to make it fit. I love it when a plan comes together.

<edit> Still not sure if I will keep the chrome ring, or got white.

Re: Non-OE dash clock retrofit.

Just bought this clock on ebay. I hope it will fit. It's advertised to be out of a 65-67 Chevy Impala (cluster or console). It looks a little busy but the face is 3" across which looks about right. I should get it in a few weeks. I'm crossing my fingers.
