Heater motor not work..sometimes

My heater/AC setup seems not to work sometimes. 98 K1500. I did a search on the site, but not sure on some of the threads. Any info? Links?

Re: Heater motor not work..sometimes

mine does that sometimes and i have to reach down and smack the motor to get it to kick on lol. i also have a solenoid that ticks behind the blower motor i dont know if that is what is wrong with mine or not. i havent had time to get under there and mess with it.

Re: Heater motor not work..sometimes

Nick, the ticking you hear is probably the blend door motor. That doesn't keep the blower motor from running, but does keep the air from going where you want it to go.

The original posters' issue is not your issue.

Seems to be blower motor not working. Maybe wiring? Switch on dash?

Re: Heater motor not work..sometimes

I would concentrate on making sure the electrical connections are good and that all of your grounds are, too. Intermittent electrical issues are a big headache. I don't know what kind of environment your truck has had to endure, but the logic of it being in the snow belt says I would look at any electrical ground straps that are outside of the cab...on the firewall, and on the chassis. Corrosion can also build up within the connectors in the cab. If they do, and there is even a slight bit of arcing, they will be blackened. Not saying yours are, but just throwing out a bit of learning.

Re: Heater motor not work..sometimes

On the 88 to early 90's models the fan motor plug in behind the glovebox was a source of blower issues. It would get hot and melt there. It's worth a look.

Re: Heater motor not work..sometimes

I forgot i even posted this! So far i havent had any issues since i kicked something under the dash. Over near the blower motor. I havent checked anything since i have been working like 80hrs a week for the last 2 months. I assume it is a ground or some kind of plug connection. I will try to get at the body grounds soon and see. I will give an update later. Like christmas, lol
