Real barn find
We need some input from some of you suburban guys. A friend that knows we do alot with 67-72's called and said he saw an old "3 door suburban". To make along story short a remodel guy did some work for an old lady whose husband had just died and he took this as partial payment. It is a 1972 custom deluxe 3/4 ton 4x4, one owner (original title owners manual and protecto plate) with 54m miles (I do know the difference) that has been in a barn the last 11 years. 350, ps pb auto front and rear air. Sport bumpers front and rear. PERFECT rust free dent free body, all three seats, perfect tailgate and hatch and the interior looks brand new. The gauge cluster is so fresh it looks restored. Paint is 100% original but it is light olive and faded bad. We really do not need this but can not see myself passing a true survivor and since it is a liitle out of our element we need some idea of value.
Any thoughts or ideas Appreciated Paul and Jason Yeah we know the " worthless without pictures " but just not availble.

Re: Real barn find
with 4 dollar gas I say $5000. .... with 2 dollar gas I say $10,000.
if I got 3 when mine sold that should be a $10,000 Sub. to the right buyer. I have only baught and sold one Sub so it is and 0.2 cent guesstimate/opinion.

Re: Real barn find
Buy it, sit on it, drive it then sell it when gas goes back down. (If you want to sell it.) my one cent (haven't earned 2 yet.)

Re: Real barn find
It is so hard to guess without seeing it. The big things, does it run/drive? Does everything work on it? What will it take to make it roadworthy? If you can drive it home, i will guess around $6-8k. If it needs gas drained, tires, a/c charge etc... maybe $4-5k
Pics would really help of course. Is everything stock yet? It sounds like something i should have... Eric

Re: Real barn find
Im no burb expert, but it seems to be worth at least $5G to me, with the potential of alot more. Dont forget there will be some work to do after sitting all that time. But it sounds to me like some odds and ends and paint will make it worth way over $10G. I wouldnt worry about the gas prices as most will make it a weekend cruiser.

Re: Real barn find
In my mind, for someone like me that would not use it as a dd, and from what you have described, I would say 8 to 10 grand. Man, I would love to see pics! There's no way to get in there and take pics?

Re: Real barn find
The value varies from region to region, and with out detailed photo's it's all a shot in the dark.
If you could buy it at a bargain to you, and then get it cleaned up, running, tires, brakes, driving, and current registration I guess a price between 8-10k where I live. If you do buy it, do not paint/primer any thing. Prospective buyers will want to see original paint and damage/rot.

Re: Real barn find
Really need to see detailed pics, but it sure sounds nice. Id love to have a K20 burb, but the prices guys are tossing out there is more than I would consider paying at this time.

Re: Real barn find
As nice as you describe it, I would think it would be worth $5-6000 if it runs well. A paint job on one of these big bodies isn't cheap, and undoubtedly there will be some brake work and fuel system work involved from it sitting for many years. If you bought it for $6000 and put another $5000 in it with paint, mechanics, tires etc. You would be at the upper end of what I see them selling for in this economy. Survivors in the shape you describe make me drool. Good luck - keep us posted and show us some pics.

Re: Real barn find
Can't wait to see it. i would love one of these, especially in the condition you describe. I loved my rusty 70 3/4 4x4, even though all it did was sit on a trailer and get parted, I still had dreams about what it could have been.
