My truck is a HERO

As many of you know the town I live in was his by a F-3 tornado on 5-24 it came down about 3 blocks from my house.turned north hit the dodge dealership and then went NE and hit the apartment that my cousin lives in.
As soon as it passed my house I went back outside to look and saw the debris in the air in the direction of my cousins apartment, I had to get over there and check on her. I looked down the street and there was a tree across the road so I locked the hubs in and got in my old "junker" and here we went the tree was kinda small so I just drove over it. when I got closer to the apartment there were already first responders on the scene. a fire truck and a ambulance they were stopped in the middle of the road. a HUGE oak tree had them blocked, I had them back up, tied a big chain that I carry onto the trunk, put the truck in low 4wd and drug the tree out of the way enough they could get through.
Yesterday I get a call from the fire chief asking me to come to the fire dept. and bring my truck. they took pics of me and my truck and gave me a nice plaque naming me as a honorary first responder the chief said it would have been a couple of hours before they could have gotten in there if I hadnt came along just goes to show ya "she may look rough but she's still got some fire in er

Congrats on the 'at a boy from the Fire Chief! Not everyone will risk injury for the good of others, you did and you deserve the recognition. Maybe the truck can have a fresh quart of 10w-30 to celebrate! lol

Re: My truck is a HERO

No its not me I could never have done what I did without my truck The guy driving the fire truck told me I was wasting my time trying to move the tree Just estimating I would say the trunk was 8 feet in diameter the root ball was bigger than my truck

Cool that they gave you recognition for you and your trucks effort. Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by recent devastating tornados.

That would make a great Chevy commercial! Some how it wouldn't be the same in a toyota.

I gotta' go along with Andy on this one. Maybe you don't view yourself as a hero, and that's your choice, but I would bet good, green cash...if you talked to some of those good people waiting on assistance they would certainly have a very high opinion of you!

All too often these days, some folks will stand around scratching their ass and avoiding getting involved. Well, I for one would say good on you!
