Got my new truck, pretty sure the engine is gone...
Well, haven't posted because I've been working on the new truck. Like I said before, the carb was flooding. I took the carb off, and it has to be the WORST carb I've ever seen! The needles were green, the secondary's were frozen shut, only one jet in the carb wasn't plugged with crap, etc... Well after a long soak in carb dip, I got it respectable looking. Re-assembled, put it back on, fixed a bunch of vacuum leaks, new plugs, fresh 20-50 oil&filter.
Now the truck runs, but has a dead miss on at least one cylinder, and the blowby coming out of the valve covers makes it look like a freight train coming down the road... *sigh*.. I guess the old 305 is toast. I know the engine has led a hard life, because there's a well used 5th wheel ball in the bed. And with 2:73's in the rear, the old 305 was struggling I'm sure.. Now I'm trying to find a good running used 350 to drop in... I'll post pics of the carb in a few mins. Posted via Mobile Device
