No wonder the truck ended up in the junkyard if they can't do basic maintenance such as brakes.

Re: Honey, the brakes making a funny noise... ill fix it later..

Long ago I saw a few of those in various wrecking yards. Also saw what was left of a few Cragar mags (and similiar copycat wheels) where the spider was still bolted to the brakes but the rim and tire was missing when the spokes shattered.

I was just glad I wasn't in the following car when those parts let go.

Re: Honey, the brakes making a funny noise... ill fix it later..

what's wrong?

aren't those them fancy "grooved and slotted" rotors to keep the brakes cooler? like fancy cars have?

Re: Honey, the brakes making a funny noise... ill fix it later..

i see this on big trucks all the time.
still don't get it, just like powerdriver said, the driver doesn't have to pay anything for the repair... I'd be pulling in when the pads are at 50% and say I want pads/rotors/calipers, and while you're at it, flush the fluid.

Re: Honey, the brakes making a funny noise... ill fix it later..

I keep coming back to this thread. Never in my life have I seen anything like this. Did a person seriously drive this truck with bad brakes until the outer part of the roter was totally worn away? How is this even possible?

PS to the OP, Im trying to figure out your board name ... little help?

Re: Honey, the brakes making a funny noise... ill fix it later..

there is a reason they are like that.
to replace the rotors you have to do a lot of greasy, dirty work to do it right. remove lock-out, both axle nuts (special tool) wheel bearings (repack or replace them), and replace wheel seal, press studs from assembly, remove rotor, reassemble new rotor to hub, machine assembly true and reverse procedure.
most people just want to pull caliper and slide on a new rotor. some even don't go that far. they just slap in some $12 pads on rusty warped grooved rotors and call it a new brake job.
disgusting

Vented rotors, guarenteed to stay cool in the hardest breaking conditions.

I might be old fashioned at the age of 18, however I think you should pop off the caliper and be able to take off the rotor, without having to do the above list of BS. I dont' care if it's a damn Ferarri or a 1972 C10.

Only in a perfect world
