Question 60-66 "Hind End Light's".....need sum pictures!

My 66 has the reverse lights (clear round lense) mounted into the rear of the fenders and we all know what a mistake that was for these guys. I want to take these out/off the fenders and wanted to see what you guys have done for reverse lights!

Convert those reverse lights to tail lights and use '56 Chevy lenses. Did that on a '55 pickup I had and looked pretty slick.

Post numbers 8 & 14 show how I installed mine next to the license plate. I made a simple sheet metal pan and attached it between the gravel shields. A variety of different lights would work in this location, I just happened to have the Unity lights.

Thanks Guys! Went ahead and ordered the stainless "53" lights and brackets w/license tab and the led kit! Figured this may help with being seen and making it a little more obvious as to my intentions ie; stopping, turning, etc. Folks around my parts seem to drive around w/their head up their a$$ not paying attention! Take care! Hutch

It's not a "mistake" for a '66 to have those small clear back up lights. That's the year they were standard on all trucks. They actually changed the fenders to have a small flat spot for the back-up lights so they would mount flush.

You might want to check this thread.. lot's of pictures: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ight=stepsides

That being said.... I used 64 Impala tail lights on my '65, still no back-up lights.
Backup Lights? We don't need no stinkin' back up lights

The "mistake" comment was in reference to the location (in the fender) and the rust issues! The HHR lights would b sweet! I would hope that the buckets could b sealed so as to eliminate any rust issues, but excellant idea though!

To clarify, the back-up lights were mounted, from the factory in 1966, just as yours are. The fenders had an indent for them.
