I was at a fair and this booth was peddling a blue paste that shined jelwrey, glass, plastic, etc... He said it worked great on dash bezels (if that is what the plastic face is called) and gave me a little bit in a cup to try. I didn't buy any because it was expensive and I was broke at the time. Last night I used it on my bezel and I wish I had taken before and after pics because WOW!!!! All scratches gone, the plastic polished up to be perfectly clear and brand new, I mean brand new. It has a very fine abrasive in it, I think it removes a micro layer of whatever you use it on. I cannot remember the name of the stuff though becasuse I got it so long ago. Anybody ever use anything like this?

Aren't most of these bezels suffering from chrome wear? I know all of my originals were worn so I don't see how it could work in that case. ??

What you're talking about is the dash "lens". It sounds like some sort of simi-chrome polish,like we use on polished aluminum,lexan windshields,and glasses/google lenses.

I've had great luck with this plastic cleaner: Plexus http://www.plexusplasticcleaner.com/frames.html
Spray on, swirl a little bit, and wipe off. And leaves a nice smell! 8^)

I use plastix after cleaning it with warm water. Works well for small cracks and doesn't take the lettering off the back side unless you scrub too hard.

Ahhh! the lens. I thought we were talking about the chrome dash bezel.

For plastic gauge lenses, I just use some Mequiars fine cut polish. Works great! I brought one back to life that I accidentally got some carb cleaner on! As some will know, that stuff actually "melted" the plastic a bit. Thought it was ruined but the polish brought it back.

If you have some of this polish lying around, try that instead of buying some expensive plastic polish. I use it to polish and shine up dull tail light lenses too.

Sorry, I am still learning nomenclature - yes - the lens.

Now I wish I could just kill the thread because I don't want people thinking there is a plastic chrome restorer out there if there isn't.

I looked up blitz, that's not it but the blue stuff sure takes any plastic lens and makes it new gain, just finished off all my vehicles with the last of it.

I have been tempted to use my leftover lens polishing compound for my headlights. Anyone know if that would work?

I used 3m liquid rubbing compound for my lens and headlight resto on my Honda-does a great job and saved a tach/air pressure lens.

I used mothers aluminum polish on my gauge bezel and it was amazing how clear it got. It looked like glass after just a couple minutes of buffing.
