Hello Baker

I have put one in my 82 the thing that you need to make sure to use if you are redoing the material is to use high temp glue and im not talking about 3ms'' supper 77 it wount handel the heat it is very easy to put one in I put black vinyl on my and it looks good rember the glue is the thing to rember if your going to put different material on

Take Care

Re: headliner mod

I own an upholstery shop. If you have the board and the moldings it would be pretty easy. I would take it to a shop to have them cover the board or buy a board thats already covered. I would use regular headliner material and not vinyl because although vinyl may hold it usually wont last as long because you have heat baking the roof and the heavy weight of the vinyl fighting to drop it.

Re: headliner mod

Put in all the trim first. That way you can mark and drill all the mounting holes that you'll need.
Remove the visors and the interior light assembly.
install the headliner using the visors to hold the front of the headliner and reinstall the dome light assembly to hold up the rear of the head liner.
Reinstall all the trim and you're done.
