73-74 grill & bezels to 79.

I want to fit the pre 79 style headlight bezels to my 79 C20. I have purchased a LMC speciality grill part #38-4035, but I'm unsure of what other parts I need. Is it just the bezels or do I require other mounting brackets ? Do I also need a new lower grill trim piece ?

I cant just go to my local junkyard as these vehicles arent very common in Australia. I do prefer the mid 70s headlight bezels than the 79 style...

it's a direct swap all you need is the lower trim and the bezels and everything bolts/screws in place of the originals as for the grill you will probably have to fab up some brackets if you can't find any in the junkyard

You will also need the outer grill brackets, and center support and hood release assembly, all off a 73/74 truck.

I don't think he will Jeff, not with that aftermarket grille he is getting from LMC. It has a footnote that if you have a 73/74 and put this grille in, you have to buy the adapters for it. Otherwise I think it's a direct swap, only needing the lower grille molding and different headlamp bezels.

I think you missed the part that he is installing that aftermarket billet grille from LMC. LMC actually states in the instructions that you need additional brackets to make the grille fit a 73-74 since it's brackets are farther back. It is made to bolt right on a 75-80.

Edit: oops, Randy beat me to it

Just the info I wanted to hear, thanks. I'll order the new bezels and lower trim. No issue fabbing brackets if needed.

Re: 73-74 grill & bezels to 79.

Ok so i've just noticed LMC have 2 different part numbers for the upper grill moulding. Part number #38-3962 - 73 to 78 and part number #3839-63 - 79 moulding. Would I be right in saying I need 38-3962 or are both upper trims identical ? And its just the lower trim thats different ? Different length for uppers perhaps ? If anyone could confirm this that would be great as I have already purchased a new upper 79 moulding before I decided to swap to the earlier bezels. They look 1000 times better than the 79.
