interior question

OK, I've searched but I couldn't find this anywhere, although I could swear that I asked this once before. I'm trying to replace the 4x6 speakers in the rear of my 97 ext. cab, but I can't get the interior tore down. I've already broken the piece that goes above the back glass, and I really don't want to destroy any more than I have to, not to mention that I'm going to have to try to pull one out of a donor truck when I go to the junkyard this weekend. can anyone guide me to a teardown guide for the interior of my truck? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: interior question

Very carefully.they didn't design this very well.I just type out an ext cab interior last week and had great luck with a little patience.the trick I found was not to pry too hard.just pull away gently.these plastic pieces are very brittle over the years.try to find the clips and just give it a little bump.hope this helps.

Re: interior question

I bought some speakers for my '00 Tundra from www.crutchfield.com and they sent illustrated paperwork to get to any speaker, anywhere in the cab, as well as everything you'd need to do to get to the radio.

I know you already have your speakers, but maybe someone else might be appreciating the info, AND you can call 'em back anytime in the future if you have a question.

Re: interior question

Yea the right tools are always a plus. That amazon link doesn't work. But ya gotta be gentle that's the one thing I have learned because yes they have got brittle and old with age.

Re: interior question

find the clips and try to get your hand right next to them BEHIND the plastic a quick little tug and it pop right off. i did that same thing and broke that top piece over the rear glass i just screwed it to the headliner and addedsome foam strips so it wouldn't rattle against the side panels.
