Help me decide flat or gloss black
I can't make up my mind on whether I should go flat or gloss black. I figured you guys could help push me in the right direction. Either way I go I am going to get some green real fire graphics on the hood.

Re: Help me decide flat or gloss black
I agree with 75Chevyman. I did mine go gloss and I kinda wish I'd went flat or semi-gloss. I think it would look better.

I think this is the hardest part of a build, deciding on the color. I have the color but should it be shiny or satin. My Dad always had black trucks when I was growing up. There are beautiful example of both finishes. On one hand you have Ken's truck, and then on the other hand S10fan's "Heap". Decisions, decisions!!!

Re: Help me decide flat or gloss black
I see so many people with flat black trucks, as much as I like it I would want something a bit different. A gloss black with the right amount of chrome has that super sexy sleek look. Flat black always seems to have the rat rod look to me.
I vote gloss.

Re: Help me decide flat or gloss black
In my opinion, (which is the only one that matters), flat black ratrod style is SO OVERDONE! I am so totally sick and tired of seeing otherwise nice vehicles, especially at shows, with an intentional unfinished look. It has gone on way to long now and it needs to die now.
Gloss black and chrome, you just can't go wrong.

Re: Help me decide flat or gloss black
Flat is too common and gloss you better have that bodywork perfect. Id consider satin black, a good satin black paint job looks just as classy as anything imo.

Re: Help me decide flat or gloss black
what about maybe doing a gloss black over all and then doing satin stripes or accents
I've seen 2010 challengers that were all gloss black with satin racing stripes... I've also seen it where they painted the rockers and the bumpers flat or satin and the rest would be gloss... there is a difference between flat, satin, and gloss too... its hard to explain but in a sence satin is in between flat and gloss in reguards to its shin and depth... (flat having no shine and gloss... you get the picture) my vote both lol

Re: Help me decide flat or gloss black
did my 87 in flat black
cops said the drunk chick that ran into it said she dropped her sub she picked it up and didn't see the truck PARKED(on the red spots) in front of her she hit/moved it with a honda accord tire going threw the windsheild onto the hood I'd go gloss but either way clear coat it the black went "chalky" after a while
