centerforce clutches suck! I've blown more than one. Check to see if front axle is Dana 60? And transfer case I hope is a NP205 if axle and case are not as I listed look to have fun fixing it if you plan on getting it dirty at all. Ten inches of lift, is it all suspension? If it is you may have u-joint problems unless case has been lowered or axles are tilted. But it is a fine looking chevy, and that comes from a Ford daily driver

with that motor and 4.56 gears and you want better than 6 m.p.g. ? i doubt it will run on pump gas and i'd also wonder about passing the smog test because with that much compression it won't make it.
it is a sweet looking truck and would be a blast in the mud the owner obviously knows somebody to run a false smog test for it but will this person do the same for you? with our strict emission laws, i'd think twice about buying it unless you want a toy strictly for off road use, which is the only legal way you could register it. just my opinion but i work in a shop that does smog tests and hi-po motors don't pass the strict standards.

i'd be happy with eight or so and no it runs on 91 octane or 104 i'm only driving to school and to work im not that worried about mileage...
i've been thinkin how hard it'd be to just find a junked 73 gmc take the vin plates and title switching it with that truck and having the other crushed....not legal but neither are alot of things we do in our law ridden state of cali.... if this plan fails i'll just get a different truck but i've rode in this truck and happen to like everything that has been done to it its exactly how i'd have built it.i'll attest its very fun offroad no mud around last week..... I'm with Jerry on the passing smog issue in California. I had a '74 Powerwagon that a local smog joint was passing by sniffing only one tailpipe and ignoring the lack of required emissions equipment. The shop was recommend to me by the guy who sold me the rig, which worked well for a couple of years until the shop got its permit yanked for their dubious practices. After that, I was forced to go to a reputable shop and got hit on both equipment and emissions. I had to change the intake and carb, and it never ran the same after that.

as for your vin swap... it's not worth it!!! there are several places with numbers on them both frame rails should be stamped the cab and a couple more places... and for the money that truck better be a one ton! and i"m thinkin more like 7 or 8 inches of lift... have a good day.
