Tach Plate

Anyone know where to get the gauge plate that goes in front of the gages between the gauges and plastic lens. I'm not talking about the rear plate that the gauges mount to I'm talking about the one with the large holes that sits in front of the gauges. I need one with a tach hole but can't seem to find one.

Re: Tach Plate

You talkin' about the gauge bezel? Almost any vendor on the board is carrying those. Also almost all the aftermarket company's that are not vendors are carrying them.

Not sure of the actual name but the assembly from front to rear is outside which I believe is the bezel your refering to, plastic lens, metal housing with round holes (part I need), gauges, gauge backing plate. I need the part between the lens and gauges. It's like a metal housing for the gauges. I can't seem to find these anywhere. I need one with a tach opening as the one I have is rusted and it is the only piece preventing restoration. I even have found a NOS wood bezel

I call it the inner tin. I think the board vendors would carry that. Try wes at classic heartbeat.

Re: Tach Plate

Here are pics of what I have done. I blasted the back plate as best I could then put in a new circuit. On the inside I repainted the needles hugger orange and replaced the bulbs with led. I attempted to polish the NOS lens and found a NOS outside bezel (w/box) so it looks pretty good. I couldn't find that inside housing and it has had rust eat away at the inside so that is the only thing that needs correcting. I can't find any vendors with that item and really don't even know what it's name is. Anyway I have included some pics of what I've done but sure would like to find that piece to complete it. As you can see at the top of the tach it has actually rusted away or been cut away by the previous owner.

GMC Pauls has them listed in his online catolog

http://www.gmcpauls.com/instrument_panel.htm

Scroll down and look for "2 piece tachometer case"
