I scored me a
72 rear diff today for $150. Clean and still full of oil. guys says it has been sitting around for 20 years. maybe maybe not but it was still clean inside and out.

I think I am going to put this one in my 65 if it has a 3.73 gear ratio. I think that would be better for the BB. The one I have in the 65 now is 3.08 and the pinion seal leaks. I can fix that one up and stick it in the 66.

3.08's were very common in 71-72 as most trucks came with a 350 and an automatic. The 71-72 rear I put in my truck had 3.08's but I had the original rear from my 63 and swapped in the 3.73's. The differance is night and day.

I think the 3.08's will be ok. My son wants to do Route 66 next year in the truck so I will need some good freeway gears.
