So, I put a 2" carb spacer on, with new gaskets, and things weren't lining up like I feel they should.

And the carb is the Edelbrock 1406

Is this supposed to be like this?

Looks like your trying to put a square bore carb on a spread bore intake, That takes a different spacer/adapter something like this; http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-2696/

Yep, you need an adapter, not a spacer. The spreadbore intake you have is built for a q-jet style carb with small primaries and large secondaries. The squarebore carb will never seal up right on the spreadbore intake w/o the adapter plate.

That was kinda my thought, but the intake manifold and carb. are both Edelbrock Performer. From their site I got the impression that they were supposed to go together. The site lists the manifold as a dual plane.

It is a dual plane intake. Notice the divider between the left and right banks. It is just a spreadbore intake, not a squarebore like your carb is. Two different animals altogether. The easy solution is just to get the adapter restrorob linked to above. A few different people make them, and you can usually source a Mr. Gasket version at your local parts store.

Gotcha. Thought it was either spreadbore or dual plane. Now I get it. I've seen the adapters at the store, I'll pick one up.

Get the 4 holer and not the open plenum adapter.

FYI, $26 through summit, $44 at O'Reilly's... gonna order it, but I figure I'll order new jets/rods whatever. I have the Edelbrock 1406, which is for fuel economy (came with the truck) but I want more power. Gotta figure out what I should get..

If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape. If a hammer doesn't fix it, you have an electrical problem!
