Need new Tailgate!
I was on the Hot Rod Power Tour last week and was moving around in the bed and came down to hard on my repro tailgate.
I am in need of a replacement? Any suggestions on a good sturdy tailgate that can actually handle an adult standing on it. Thanks

Re: Need new Tailgate!
I haven't seen a good one lately. The ones I saw a few years ago were at a premium. Your problem sounds like what I've heard before about some repro tailgates.
I remember reading a post where someone mentioned an idea he had of inserting a pipe across the inside of the top of the tailgate. His idea was to make a hole on either side, insert the reinforcement and mig weld in place. Sounded like a good idea but I don't know if he tried it. |

Re: Need new Tailgate!
gcburdic - it was a plain tailgate, I would like to get a stamped one
I was at the Springfield swap meet over Memorial Day, didn’t see any, then again I wasn't looking that hard, at the time, mine was good. flashed-send me a message, maybe we can work something out, thanks

Re: Need new Tailgate!
if you want to get a new one, give wes at Classic Heartbeat a call. I am pretty sure I remember his saying he has some that are just as thick as originals?
Otherwise, I think everyone has you covered... ship one from GA, post on the parts page, or go to the springfield swap meet. As I'm SURE you already know... you don't want a POS Ohio tailgate. |
