1st Gen. Blazer Gas Tank Help

I need to get a new tank for my '71 Blazer. What's the reasoning for buying a sleek, new stainless steel tank like the one below, vs. a stock replacement from LMC or other company? Just trying to decide what kind of tank to buy and want to understand the difference between the two.

Most of them similar to what you posted have more capacity than stock or specialty items like in-take fuel pumps for fuel injection.

I'm assuming these custom SS tanks are much more difficult to install than the stock ones?

I'd assume so too. My stock tank works fine and hasn't rusted out during it's 39 years, so I'd probably just go with a repop of the original. You can look for a skid plate if you want to protect it from getting damaged off-road.

I'm in the same boat. I have an aftermarket 40 gal. tank right now that is big and bulky. I saw that brothers has a complete tank and sending unit with all the straps and parts for $179. So i think i will be picking that up soon.

Does Brothers have a website? I'm not familiar with them.

I think its $240 for the kit. $180 is for the tank alone. Google Brothers Truck Parts for the site.

Re: 1st Gen. Blazer Gas Tank Help

My factory tank rusted out from the inside
Not realy sure how, I guess water is heavier than gas?
One day I smelled gas, looked under there and sure enough a silverdollor size wet spot all by itself smellin like fuel

Anyway, I bought a dirrect replacement bolt in tank in Polyehtelane from Brothers. It looked identical too the factory tank EXCEPT the filler neck was very short. So I had to cut off the factory metal filler neck from the leaky one. Then cut my factory filler hose in half, inserted the metal peice to make the hose reach the new poly tank...worked great for a year err two then the gass leaking out the sending unit O ring whenever I would fill the tank to the top.

Eventually I got tired of that and also got tired of the 21gal capacity...sold that tank and bought a big tank from NWMP.com, been happy eversence..corse I modifed the install , moved it up and built a BA skidplate
