91 Crew Paint and Engine

Hello All

I am new to the group but love the old square bodies, been in love my whole life, have been shopping for quite a while to find a good crew 4x4 here is alberta, and finally i have been blessed with a 91 crew, loaded, with 148km 92500miles for the our american friends, it is in great shapw, the interior has always had covers and is mint, the dash pad needs changed surprise surprise. and the box around the fenders is rusted a bit but other than that the body is good and clean, it has a stock 454

now question time

it is white currently with red interior, i want to reapir the body and paint but i dont know if i want to go plain white, but i dont know that i want to tear down the interior just to paint, so does anyone have any good color schemes that use white that would not clash with my red interior?
i was think chevy had a white and silver color scheme on thier blazers in the late 80's early 90's

second what should i do to the engine to get some more ponies, i am going to put a 4" lift and 35's but it will be more of my daily driver than a mud bogger

Thanks in advance

Re: 91 Crew Paint and Engine

I am going back white with mine (PPG Arctic White), but adding a set of semi-gloss black rally stripes with red pin stripping around the edges & a set of black pin stripes along the side body lines as well.

That rendering looks awesome, i am so torn, whether i should stay with 91 front clip or if i should go back to the late 70s front clip like in your rendering

Re: 91 Crew Paint and Engine

Thanks man! I always preferred the early model front ends as I feel they look more "muscular". Plus I wanted to run a 7" round LED headlight to match all my other LED lighting, so it was a good fit. Either way though man you can't lose!

Re: 91 Crew Paint and Engine

might be able to remove some stickers with a heat gun and razor
carb cleaner is good for leftover goo
spray nine from the bottom up should help the white and remove rust runs in it

Re: 91 Crew Paint and Engine

Thanks i got the stickers off with the heat gun and used a spra cleaner from Wurth that is an awesome glue remover, but saw your comment once I was done and heard that brake clean works way better because it dries the glue out, oh well
i have ordered repair panels for my box, and got an awesome deal on some bfg km2's on newer chevy rims, putting them on this week i hope and ordered my 4" front and rear leaf lift kit, now i just need to figure out what i should do to the 454, thinking headers, but it has TBI and i have heard that you have to get the computer re programmed to get good power out of it, i have never had a TBI so is this true?

The guy who runs this outfit, http://tbichips.com/ is very knowledgeable and helpful with TBI stuff. He has helped me out several times with my '87. Looks like you got a very nice truck.
