3 speed w/overdrive

I found a Saginaw column 3 speed with overdrive. I heard you can bypass the kickswitch and generator with a toggle (on/off) switch. Has anyone done this? The truck i took it from had that, but the guy that sold me the tranny did not know what happened to the switch. Any help will be appreciated, don't want to do the kickswitch and I'm pretty lost when it comes to wiring diagrams, the simplier the better.
