Looking for a shop in kentucky specializing in lowered trucks. Got a 1996 GMC Sierra SWB, Belltech 2" drop spindles and hanger/shackles. She bottoms out in rear and scrapes in front over bumps. Lookin for shop near Lexington ky Thanks Dave |

Re: lowering shop in Kentucky
How often does it bottom in the rear? A 4" rear drop is pretty much the max you can run on these trucks without a c-notch. When I had a 2/4 drop, I would bottom the rear from time-to-time. If you still have the factory bumpstops, you might consider getting rid of them in favor of some shorter, button-type bumpstops to give you a little more clearance.
What are you "scraping" up front? Is it your tires rubbing? BellTech spindles push the front wheels out slightly, widening your front track. They do this to eliminate the need to trim the control arms when running 15-17" wheels. The trade-off is that you can run into clearance issues with the tires and the fenders. I have no idea of your wheel/tire combo, but this might be a possibility for you. |

Re: lowering shop in Kentucky
thanks members,
by george you might be on to somethin there. I noticed scratches on left front tire and just chauked it up to a curb. run stock 15x8 wheels and slightly larger tires than stock (will check size) I thought it sounded more like metal to metal up front but it could be the tire. we did have to cut a chunk from the crossmember (i think) to eliminate the wheel rubbing on sharp turns. will also check rear bump stops thanks |
