Stock Early GMC Seat Pattern

I bought the material for my seat and took it over to the shop to have it redone. The owner said it looked as though it was redone some time ago and the stiching and pattern dosen't look as though it's stock. He said there was supposed to be welting around the seat sides. Are there any pictures of a stock 61 GMC (or 60-62) that I can use as a reference? These pictures don't show it, but the pattern seems to be made up of about 6 pieces for the back and 4 or 6 for the bottom.

Re: Stock Early GMC Seat Pattern

I'm redoing it to stock, which I thought it was. This is the OEM fabric and I found some, so I bought 2 yards. The stitch work is really nice and I like the way the seat looks If I can't get any documentation of how the seat is supposed to be I'll have him redo it to look like it is now. The foam is all rotted and falling apart and I know if I have the seat repadded in 3 months the fabric woudld tear. So since I have the chance I'll do it now.

Re: Stock Early GMC Seat Pattern

This is what the original unrestored seat cover looked like in my 1960 GMC. It was all vinyl:

And here is a close up of the fabric itself:

Re: Stock Early GMC Seat Pattern

It looks like there was a couple different options. Mark, was yours a custom trim model? I know my suburban was. I am still trying to figure out if there was a 1960 non-custom package suburban.

If you look closely in this factory photo, you can see a seat pattern like the seats in my suburban:

here is my rear seat; all seats were the same pattern

Re: Stock Early GMC Seat Pattern

According to the original window sticker and order form, mine came with a #1815 Deluxe Cab, and what appears to be option #GM0016AB. I have no idea if this identified a specific seat and/or seat cover. It may have been an upgrade seat, because other than a split in the fabric (and staining from years of use) it was in remarkably good condition.

Re: Stock Early GMC Seat Pattern

Cort, I got the fabric from the place near your house, and it's very close to the fabric I have now. (only a little more green in the tint) Closer to the paint in the cab. I'm sure the pattern is close to stock on my truck after looking at burb seat. I have seen an ad for the interior someplace and remember the seat back looking close to mine. Just can't find the ad or remember the details
