wiring harness 66 truck
How do you decide which wiring harness to buy? is one brand better than the other. I have a 66 suburban and need all new wiring.

Re: wiring harness 66 truck
I just bought a painless wiring harness through jegs just last week. All the wires are color coded like factory and seems to be pretty simple to install (this weekends project) but thats my 2 cents

Re: wiring harness 66 truck
are you going original or custom, meaning ac, radio, power other stuff, seats etc?
Either way, dont spend money on the cheaper harnesses, go with AAW ( American Auto Wire. MGBMike has them very reasonable, he is on the board here. Ive done the cheap ones and ended up doing the AAW Classic Highway series.

Re: wiring harness 66 truck
if not a stock restoration - I personally like the ones that have the circuit name printed on the correctly color coded wires (i.e. "ignition" or "water temp sender" or whatever) - so instead of having to squint at a wiring diagram, your wire bundle is its own wiring diagram. But might look a little hokey - depends if you're a form over function sorta guy or the reverse. At a minimum, I'd make certain it's gm circuit color coded - and most of them are. Having said all that - I concur with Clyde, have heard nothing but good stuff about AAW. For that matter, have never heard anything bad about Painless either...

Re: wiring harness 66 truck
My 66 was totally gutted of wiring. I went with the 9+3 Rebel Wire package. It worked for my needs very well since I was not looking for an original rebuild. And excellent customer service.

Re: wiring harness 66 truck
If you're looking for a product review...I've wired several trucks and hot rods using Ron Francis kits and they are by far the best that I've used, along with excellent service.
